Privacy and Adtech; the moral obligation of therapists using video platforms during Covid-19 and beyond.

Why consumer grade products should not be used for therapy/health related services. Unless the privacy policy assures you complete confidentiality for your clients/patients/customers

The ICO are not monsters. They understand your need to help others in a crisis and may well be ‘not prosecuting you for data breaches during this time’, however as a responsible therapist I am entirely sure that you want to do the best to protect your clients from data breaches from your computer or your behaviour online? So obviously this means you want to use software that you can trust, apply all data protection laws into your practice and most importantly protect the rights and freedoms of your clients. Regardless of where and how you deliver your service? This language about data protection laws must be familiar and I hope I am not teaching you to suck eggs.

However, I suspect that you cannot answer yes to all of the following questions because Data protection, cybersecurity and privacy issues have not been part of your training from the outset. It’s unlikely that you fully comprehend or understand that in the digital world that these…
